Shelter Cove is located in the middle of the Lost Coast of California between Fort Bragg and Eureka where towering mountains meet the wild Pacific Ocean. Shelter Cove is 200 miles north of San Francisco just off Highway 101.  It is surrounded by the King Range National Conservation area managed by the Bureau of Land Management.  It is a small fishing and retirement community with access by air and road.  Located within Southern Humboldt County we have a number of state and federal parks with towering redwoods.   Shelter Cove is 21 miles west of Garberville.  There are scenic valleys, vineyards and wineries along the way. If you are coming from San Francisco, you will pass through the beautiful wine region of California as you make your way to Shelter Cove.

Within Southern Humboldt County we have lovely meadows, rivers, and forests which make for many potential sites for painting.  We hope to see you in October.

We think we  live in a magic environment.

This year, the fun begins with a Quick Draw on October 4 at the famous Historic Benbow Inn.  This will happen on the first day and should be  a great way to get things going!
